36 Days of Type is a project that invites designers, illustrators, and visual artists to share their unique interpretation of the letters and numbers of the Latin alphabet. It’s an annual open call that pushes the creative boundaries of letterforms, challenging participants to design one letter or number each day for 36 consecutive days. The outcome is a global, simultaneous showcase of how the same symbols can be reimagined from countless perspectives.
For the 2023 edition, we decided to challenge ourselves by exploring the possibilities of Cavalry. While we typically use After Effects, we were excited to see what Cavalry could bring to the table, and it did not disappoint. The result was a series of eclectic 2D animated letters—each with its own unique style, yet all tied together with a consistent color palette and gradient-like basic shapes.
